Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)

Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI)

For Healthcare Professionals

 

LA Fire Card offers both the Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) and Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) classes for healthcare professionals in California. 

 

The Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) also known as AB-508 violence prevention class and the Crisis Prevention & Intervention class are designed for individuals working within healthcare and emergency medical services fields. These courses teach the healthcare and emergency medical services professionals the techniques to use when dealing with the potentially assaultive client. Students will understand and have the ability to recognize potentially dangerous situations and the tools to de-escalate situations prior to any physical intervention or assault. Physical intervention skills are taught through simulation and role-play.

Satisfies requirements for California AB 508, Section 3, sub 1257.7 and 1257.8 training for healthcare providers.

  • Personal safety measures.

  • The assault cycle.

  • Aggression and violence predicting factors.

  • Obtaining patient history from a patient with violent behavior.

  • Verbal and physical maneuvers to diffuse and avoid violent behavior.

  • Strategies to avoid physical harm.

  • Restraining techniques.

  • Appropriate use of medications as chemical restraints.

  • Receive your certification card the same day

  • Please Note for Online Classes: By taking the MAB Online or CPI Online certified class, you will receive the same class completion card as you would taking the in-person class.
